TOTAL names Patrick Pouyanne to succeed CEO ​ killed in aircrash.

French Oil giant, Total,​on Wednesday named Patrick Pouyanne, who is currently the head of the refining and chemicals arm of the multinational group, as its new chief executive.
He would succeed Christophe de Margerie, the oil company’s chief executive, who died on Monday in a plane crash in Moscow.

The company, at the end of the emergency meeting of its board of directors,​ called to nominate a new CEO, also appointed former CEO, Thierry Desmarest, as its Chairman.
Mr. de Margerie, 63, who was the chief executive of Europe’s third largest oil company since 2007, died after his corporate executive jet collided with a snow plough, resulting in a huge flame that burnt all occupants of the plane.
