Manchester United must look elsewhere as Karim Bellarabi pens new deal

One of those reported to be interesting Manchester United ahead of the January window has just slipped off the Old Trafford transfer radar.

Despite being blessed with plenty of attacking options, Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Karim Bellarabi was said to be a target for Louis van Gaal.
The Red Devils were believed to be closing monitoring his situation in the Bundesliga, with his contract due to expire next summer.
United were ready to pounce in the New Year once Bellarabi was freed to hold pre-contract talks with interested parties.
They will, however, have to turn their attention elsewhere after seeing the Germany international commit to fresh terms in his homeland.
Leverkusen have announced on their official Twitter account: “Bayer 04 have activated an option and extended the contract with Karim Bellarabi until 30 June 2017.”
It is easy to see why United were understood to be among those looking at the talented 24-year-old.
