She said the messages — which the school became aware of Monday and which continued into the next day — were directed at a sixth-grade student or students. The district said in a statement that closing the school was in the best interest of the students and staff.
“The police department made absolutely no recommendation to the school district as to what they should do, so the decision was made entirely by the administrators themselves,” said Skokie police Officer Eric Swaback.
Neither Swaback nor Donegan would offer specifics about the alleged threats, citing the ongoing investigation.
City officials said the situation was isolated to McCracken and did not affect any other schools in the village
